Bilingual Receptionist/Clerical Assistant - Portland OR, 1 Year Term

The Federal Public Defender for the District of Oregon is seeking a bilingual, full-time Receptionist/Clerical Assistant for our Portland office for a one-year term.
• Answering and directing a high volume of incoming calls.
• Assisting with financial and procurement activities.
• Delivering documents to the court for filing.
• Receiving and scanning incoming mail; routing deliveries.
• Organizing the case file and office supply rooms.
• Assisting with docketing and calendaring
• Performing a variety of other administrative duties as they arise.
Required Qualifications:
• Bilingual (English-Spanish) fluency; qualified applicants must pass an oral “phone screen” before being invited for an interview.
• A demonstrated commitment to and comfort working with diverse communities and with clients from a range of backgrounds.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• High-school graduate or equivalent.
• One year of relevant experience and a willingness to learn new skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bookkeeping, purchasing, or other financial or procurement experience.
This is a full-time position with federal judiciary salary and benefits based on qualifications and experience. The starting salary range is $37,634 to $46,618 (JSP Grade 5-7) with promotion potential. Compensation also includes 10 paid federal holidays, 13 paid sick days annually, and 13 paid vacation days annually (to start), health insurance, life insurance, retirement contribution, and the Thrift Savings Plan. The position is for one year.
